Historic centers, as the beating heart of our cities, must be protected from noise and pollution, restoring their most intimate and accessible dimension: that of the pedestrian and the cyclist. The city, once designed for walking and lingering, must return to being a place where every step is an experience. In this context, the Piazza Sant’Ambrogio project aims to transform it into a vast space for rest and gathering, where every corner invites you to pause and embrace in a protected environment. The square becomes a safe haven where children can run freely, without the fear of traffic-related dangers. Cars, once the protagonists of the urban scene, are now distant, forgotten, out of sight and out of mind. This bold and resolute intervention follows a vision that goes against the grain of common urban planning practices, returning the city to human beings, to their pace, and to their natural interaction with space.
