Founded by Carlo Gandolfi in 2006, the studio is active in Italy and abroad, developing projects that have been widely published and awarded.

bunker engages with various scales: from construction details to urban space, viewing design as a tool to investigate the quality of places and living in contemporary contexts.

bunker operates through an open network of collaborations, activating different expertise based on the nature of each project.
Team

Carlo Gandolfi
(London, 1980)

He studied at the Politecnico di Milano and the FAUP in Porto. A PhD graduate from the IUAV in Venice, he has taught at the Politecnico di Torino and the Politecnico di Milano, gives lectures and talks in various cities, participates in international seminars and conferences, and teaches architectural design at the University of Parma. His publications include Matter of Space (Turin 2018), Paulo Mendes da Rocha, infraestructural (Madrid 2023), and he edited the collection of PMdR’s writings La ville pour tous (Paris 2025). He currently collaborates with the studio as a consultant for design research and cultural direction.

Roberto Molteni
(Como, 1986)

Architect, studied at the Politecnico di Milano and conducted research on self-construction processes in the contemporary city for a PRIN project. Registered with the Order of Architects of the Province of Como.

Tommaso Brighenti
(Parma, 1985)

Studied at the Politecnico di Milano, where he holds a PhD in Architectural Composition. Registered with the Order of Architects of the Province of Parma. He has collaborated with various Italian universities, giving lectures, participating in design experimentation activities, and organizing exhibitions and conferences. He teaches design at the Politecnico di Milano. He currently collaborates with the studio as a consultant for design research and cultural direction.

Andrea Valvason
(Latisana, 1994)

Studied at the IUAV in Venice, where he holds a PhD in Architectural Composition, and at the Politecnico di Milano, where he teaches design. Registered with the Order of Architects of the Province of Udine. He participates in academic research, lectures, seminars, and conferences, with contributions at various Italian universities.

Lorenzo Domenella
(Desenzano del Garda, 1999)

Architect, studied at the Politecnico di Milano, ETSAM in Madrid, and PUCV in Valparaíso. Registered with the Order of Architects of the Province of Milan.
